Ansaldo STS has been assigned a contract to implement the ERTMS signalling technologies on the new line connecting Oued Tlelat and Tlemcen in Algeria

The consortium consisting on Condotte d’Acqua & Rizzani de Eccher (Italian civil works companies) has awarded to Ansaldo STS (STS.MI) the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the ERTMS signalling systems and related equipment for the 130km new line connecting the cities of Oued Tlelat and Tlemcen in North West of Algeria.

The global amount of the contract is worth Euro 40 Millions, and the project duration is estimated to 2,5 years.
This project is part of the national plan to develop the infrastructures and modernize the railway networks from East to West of the country.
Within the frame of the contract, Ansaldo STS will cover all of the phases of the implementation of both ERTMS level 1&2 signalling technology and the traditional wayside signalling system, to allow mixed traffic on the new line operating passenger and freight trains.

Together with wayside signalling systems, Ansaldo STS will supply the Traffic Control Center located in Oran and install the equipments on 15 trains.
The complete system will allow safe and reliable commercial operations up to 220 km/h.
