ERTMS Brochure

The European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is a single, EU-wide signalling and speed control system that ensures interoperability between national railway systems. This telecommunications technology reduces the purchasing and maintenance costs of signalling systems, increases the speed of trains, raises the capacity of infrastructure and improves the level of safety. ERTMS is designed to replace all existing and legacy national signalling systems on the Trans-European Rail Network. Additionally, it will help create a much safer rail network by removing bottlenecks and supporting the harmonisation of operational rules (approvals, etc.) which exist between different Member States.

Make sure to read about ERTMS' history, development, advantages, future evolution and opportunities in the newly published ERTMS brochure here.
